My stay at Florida Hospital DeLand was overall a very positive experience. From the surgery prep team, who were friendly, encouraging and informative, to recovery, who were very concerned with my well being and how they could help make me comfortable. To my nurses, who encouraged me and took such excellent care of me, to my therapy, which was actually made fun by a very accomplished therapist. He encouraged us, laughed with us and sympathized with us. He got me started in the path to success and a very good recovery.
My room was very nice and included a wonderfully comfortable lazy boy chair, which my knee appreciated. I cannot say enough to thank all those who so ably cared for me.

For many years, I knew I needed total knee replacement surgery. It was just a matter of time. I finally made my decision to have Dr. Mark Hollmann perform the surgery in October, 2010.

After scheduling my surgery, the not-knowing what to expect feeling settled in, causing me to be apprehensive and making me doubt my decision. The total joint replacement class provided by Destination Mobility provided me with an opportunity to meet total joint replacement team members who answered any questions I had about what to expect before and after joint replacement surgery. The class eased my mind and kept me positive and focused.
Destination Mobility, Florida Hospital DeLand Orthopaedic Center is Excellence-provided a team of physicians, physician assistants, patient care technicians, nurses, physical therapist and occupational therapists specializing in total joint replacement. This team worked together throughout my entire pre-op and post-op experience. Each day, their compassionate care and positive reinforcement contributed to my personal well-being and my successful recovery.
Since my experience with Destination Mobility, Florida Hospital DeLand Orthopaedic Center of Excellence was so positive, I plan to do it all over again in January 2011.

I received wonderful care and attention from every staff member during all facets of my replacement surgery and recovery. Every person who came into my room to render care or just clean up was kind, caring, professional and really made me feel special. From the pre-admission visit until my discharge, I could not have asked for better or more professional care.

In July of this year, I saw Dr. Hood for severe pain in my right knee and right hip. It had been a year since my last x-rays and the new x-rays showed "bone on bone" in the right knee, with no cartilage left between the knee joint. He explained that with severe pain, and it interfering with my daily activities, that it was time to make a decision about knee replacement.
After careful consideration, I decided to have Dr. Hood perform a total knee replacement at Florida Hospital DeLand Orthopaedic Center of Excellence, which was scheduled for Sept 20. Prior to the surgery, my husband and I attended a joint replacement class at the hospital and everything about the surgery was explained in detail. The "Patient Guide" which was given to me by Dr. Hood's office staff was a complete summary of what to expect before and after the surgery.
Pre-admission testing was done at Florida Hospital DeLand a few days before surgery and everyone in the out-patient department was friendly, yet professional.
Following my surgery, I went to the Orthopaedic Floor for continued care and the second day, I was started on Physical Therapy exercises in my room The care of the nursing staff was excellent. On several occasions I had to call for assistance which was quick to arrive. It has been four weeks since my surgery and I'm feeling great and recovering faster than expected.
